What can I do about my bad breath?!

Question: What can I do about my bad breath?
I haven't consulted my dentist/a specialist yet.

I've always had trouble with bad breath, even though my teeth are in great shape/pearly white.

I'm sure there are multiple factors contributing to my problem, but some of these are inevitable. I eat pretty healthy/well balanced, but because my job hours change, my sleeping and eating habits are irregular. I try not to let too much time go by after waking up before eating.

I think one of my biggest factors is not drinking enough water. This can cause constipation(happens more in tune with late sleep hours). But there are times when I drink extra water before a social event, and I still see subtle gestures/fingers brought to noses after I talk. This is after brushing my teeth, using mouthwash, flossing, etc. beforehand.

I'm not sure what kind of "funk" it is. There's a certain kind of smell when someone is dehydrated, but it must be something else if I'll drink 3-4 glasses of water and it doesn't really go away. How long does it take for water consumption alone to ease bad breath? I've heard people say "Did someone fart? It smells like sh...t" or "There's definately a sulfur like smell in here." This doesn't sound like a normal dehydrated bad breath smell/describing an odor of tooth decay, comments like this indicate that it actually smells of sh...t. But this can happen even when I had good bowel movements earlier that day.

I use a sonicare electronic toothbrush twice a day with colgate total toothpaste, I have therabreath toothpaste I switch it up to on occasion, I use alcohol-free mouthwash (biotene and crest), I constantly use listerine strips in social/work settings, I brush/scrape my tongue, I floss maybe 2-4 times a week. I feel like I go beyond average.

I'm pretty puzzled as to how to fix things. I know I need to drink more water more often, but otherwise I don't think most people have to make such an effort.

Any advice? Much appreciated

there's a way to remove bad breath.
it is a easy technique with the help of ordinary ingredients which you most likely already have at your house.

in case you have a serious bad breath (halitosis) and gums and month wash don't appear to help any more,
this remedy is for you.

When you have bad breath, with proper oral hygiene, it is usually that case that you are not drinking enough water during the day. Lack of water causes your mouth to be dry. Good luck :)

stomach upset causes your bad breath.
you need to brush before you goto sleep everytime.

You had best turn to a doctor about that teeth

drink a gallon of water a day anddddddddddddddddd

Breath mints and a dentist

BRUSH YOUR TONGUE! for real dude!

throughout the day always have some kind of a mint.

Go to the Health Food Store and buy Liquid Silver for $20.00 bucks. You might have an infection. Just a small one. This will take away any tooth PAIN and infection that brings on bad breath!

This stuff is the greatest! Don't swallow while you have infection. After the infection goes away, then every now and then you can swallow. Such as sinus infections ects!

Saves you hundreds of dollars.

Bad breath is full of unhealthy (and potentially-dangerous!) chemical compounds. They are all extremely smelly, and combine to produce the odor we recognize as bad breath. Just like my friend, you may have lost someone you really cared about by virtue of your unhealthy breath. But there is a report on bad breath cure I think you can try out.

Ask your dentist, and also, drinking coffee makes your breath smell too. Puking is also bad for you. Drink plenty of water, try to get in at least 5 glasses. Sleeping a sufficient amount also contributes alot too. Try get a good night of shut eye and you'lll feel your breath different in the morning :)

Hi Dylan,

Sounds like you’re on the right track to combat your bad breath. I recommend Therabreath products, but you have to use them only – mixing it with other brands of toothpaste and mouthwash undoes all the benefits that the products offer – try that, you should see results in a few days if not sooner. You may want to double check the ingredients on your mouthwash – Biotene and Crest tend to have alcohol in them.

You are keeping yourself hydrated and following the right oral care routine. But here are some tips:

1) Check your toothpaste and any mouthwash that you use to make sure they don’t contain either alcohol or sugar. Toothpaste may also contain an ingredient called sodium lauryl sulfate. All three of these either dry out your mouth or provide proteins to sulfur-producing anaerobic bacteria that cause bad breath.

2) Look for oxygenating toothpastes and oral rinses. Saliva fights off sulfur emissions because it is loaded with oxygen. When your mouth dries out, you lose that defense mechanism. Replace it with the right oral hygiene products.

3) Avoid high protein diets and gums or mints that contain sugar. Diets that require you to eat all meat with little starches might help you lose weight, but they tend to wreak havoc on your breath. A sugary mint or stick of gum might freshen your breath for a minute, but you’re really just providing nourishment to bacteria that cause bad breath.

If you try all of these suggestions and you still have bad breath, consult a physician and have a medical examination done. There are other physiological conditions of the liver, kidneys and heart that can cause bad breath and there are also periodontal diseases that can contribute to the problem, so you might want to see a dentist also.

Also, have you thought about taking an oral care probiotic of some sort? Here’s a great site with tons of information on probiotics and its benefits: www.proprobiotics.com

To find out more on how to treat bad breath go to http://www.therabreath.com/articles.asp which has informative articles about treating bad breath.

I hope this helps!

Your going through what I went through. Try Oraltech Labs, It worked for me, although I will say it's not just do this and "bam your breath is cured" they make you change your entire mouth cleaning habits. So you end up doing it all their way. But in the end it becomes a daily habit. It covers Post Nasal Drip and Tonsil Stones as well thankfully. If you have bad breath you'll know it messes up your whole social life. And I suppose the best thing is they don't make you go out buying "special" products for the rest of your life. Just don't get it and then think you'll do what it says “now and then” because it's either all or nothing, and trust me getting rid of my room clearing faecal breath meant I was all in. Alex’s, J. Cause of a bad breath can be anything. Not eating enough or a cavity in a tooth can cause bad breath. What I would recommend is for you to brush your teeth twice a day and also have a special brush for your tongue. Since most bacterias are on your tongue, in a form of white bacterias, they are a major cause of a bad breath. Also have a listerine with you and a pack of sugarfree gum.
