I am afraid you do, unless you are also on some form of credit payment already.

GP for more years than I care to remember

Yes, you do as the NHS only offers free to under 19 and in full time education.

There is a form available called an HD2 which can help reduce the costs of dental and optical bills but it is given and is based on parental income. So you may or may not qualify. You can get the form when you register at a NHS dentist.

But remember to stop a lot of hassle you can stay registered at your home address and regualr dental surgery.

Depending on where you are if you are studying in the UK, then all you need to do is when you register with a dentist/ go to your dentist explain that you are now a student and wud like one of the BLUE H1??(soz ive forgotten name) forms, then all you will need to do is fill it in, post it and they will tell you from their calculations how much that you have to pay during treatment and then the other % will be covered by them.

hope this helps x
