Can biting the inside of my cheeks cause swelling to them?!
Question: Can biting the inside of my cheeks cause swelling to them?
Answers:
I think you're approaching this backward.
Sure, if you injure any part of your body it's capable of swelling, as blood flows to that part to try to heal it.
But why goof around with that at all? It sounds like this cheek-biting is a nervous habit you've developed. Try keeping a rubber band on your wrist, and each time you bite your cheek, snap the rubber band to give your arm a slight sting. You'll get over the habit very quickly, as you teach yourself that cheek-biting isn't fun.
Then try to figure out why you started this biting in the first place. Are you worried about something? Have you been avoiding something important? Are you getting enough exercise, or are you holding too much physical tension in your body that has nowhere else to go? Do you feel bored because you don't find enough challenging or useful things to do, so you have to do something like biting yourself to keep yourself stimulated and awake?
Something like biting your cheeks is usually a signal that your unconscious mind is trying to get your attention about something important. What could that be? Don't just keep up the habit, and miss the chance to figure out what it really means. Cheers, Ander
