Anything that causes your jaw muscles to work extra hard to chew, like steaks, chewy candies and gum, are likely not very good for your jaw. In some cases, the muscles become overworked and can cause some pretty serious TMJ issues like lock jaw, wearing of the joint and arthritis. This is not to say that you can't ever have steak, chewy candies or gum, but it's definitely a good idea to allow your jaws to relax after chewing tough foods. I mean, take me for example: over the course of a year, I developed some bad TMJ issues that cause my jaw to lock and it's very painful. I used to eat a lot of gummy bears. I can't say the gummy bears ruined my jaw, but the most certainly didn't help.
I've got TMJ issues from clenching my teeth and tough chewing. Watch out.
bad, chewing gum will wear your jaws prematurely, we were not designed to chew incessantly like cows. also chewing gum sets your stomach juices flowing, the stomach expects food to follow all that chewing so it gets ready to receive something that needs to be digested. it really is a gross habit, people look like cows and sheep constantly jawing on a wad of gum.
chewing gum is actually proven to be very good for you (non sugar gum) as it prevents the mouth from getting dry which prevents bad breath and less calculus on the teeth although chewing it all day every day may cause jaw discomfort if this is the case do not chew it for a week or so and when you continue chewing only do so for a short period of time

Bad. If you chew gum for many years, or just alot... You'll end up being able to pop your jaw just like any finger. (Deforming)
