Sorry, but the people on here are incorrect.
Spacers are little blue rubber bands in between teeth to make spaces FOR THE BANDS.
Bands are metal rings that go around your mouth, which the wire will be hooked to.
Not everyone who gets braces get these, but a lot do. I do myself.
In short, bands are little metal rings that go around four molars. (Bottom left, bottom right, top left, top right)
I have them and braces.
Bands are the coloured elastics they put on the brackets the hold the wire. and yes you most likely are getting braces.
the process :
molds- making a mold of your teeth before you get braces
spacers - to space out molars
getting braces on.
every two months/8 weeks you will get your braces adjusted/tightened
after the amount of years you are supposed to have your braces on you will get them removed and then every six months you will go for a check up .
umm, hope this helps (:
actually, bands are metal strips that surround the tooth and are part of braces...the other parts are brackets...they are smaller and usually used on more teeth...elastics are used on bands and brackets and wires are used on bands and brackets....mostly these days, you only have a few bands and many brackets
I am a dentist
