Hey. :)

Firstly, braces are there to help you perfect your smile, and once you get them off, your smile will look brilliant.

1) When the braces are being put down, you can't feel anything, just relax and let them do their stuff and then choose a nice color(s) for your braces.
2) For a while after you get braces, you will feel like there are random metal bits just poking out.
3) The first night, you may be in some pain but for me it was nothing horrible, didn't have to take any painkillers. The separators that you have probably gotten and taken off already hurt way more for me.
4) The first three or so weeks, it might be hard to bite with your front teeth due to soreness, but within the first week, your molars will be able to bite anything. Don't try and eat anything hard for a week.
5) Eat anything you want, but avoid hard nuts, biting into apples and sticky stuff. If you do eat excessively sweet foods, just make sure you brush your teeth well and USE MOUTHWASH. Flossing is close to impossible for me with my braces, so if you can floss with braces then FLOSS. If you can't, just spend a long time brushing.
6) Drink two glasses of milk each day. You need the calcium so that your teeth don't move more than you want them to and to prevent risk of loss of teeth.
6) Braces are almost a fashion statement these days. I've had braces for 3 months and honestly, I love my braces.

You're one of the lucky few that have the opportunity to get a beautiful smile. Make the most of it :)

I have braces.

There are several different types, but most are quite similar in the specifics.

There isn't anything you *can't* eat, but it's not recommended that you chew chewing gum, or eat toffee or other sticky, gum-like foods. They might make your mouth ache a bit, but they shouldn't be too sore. I had a problem where the metal of the braces dug into the inside of my mouth, which stung, but you can get special liquid things for ulcers and the like to treat that. There's nothing too painful involved. If you have them put in, your dentist/orthodontist should tell you all about them and what you should or shouldn't do.

Good luck :D

you can eat anything apart from sugary things and it wont hurt at all when they put the braces on it will just ache a bt for like a week because the other dontics would of been tugging your teeth and then every time you get them tightened it will be a bit sore for about 2 or 3 days but not as bad when you first get them on hope i helped :)

Nothing hard or sticky basically. They ren't that sore, only for a couple of days after put on (Chewing etc..) But just take paracetomol or something for a bit. No carbonated drinks but i do through a straw! ;) I dont really care what i eat or drink, i figure that as long as clean my teeth well then anything is fine :)

I got braces like a month ago :P

for me, they throb a lot especially when you first get them on and when they'r re tightened but after a couple of days they will feel fine, i have no problem with food, i chew gum daily and ive had my braces for months and ive never got gum stuck haha but i have had bits of food stuck in school so make sure you have a little mirror to check after eating.

My ortho didn't tell me anything about what not to eat soo I ate pretty much everything the worst that can happen is lise a bracket... But I guess stay away from Carmel starbursts popcorn and corn on the cob

they are not as bad as you think, gotta stay away from chewy fruit candy, which definitely blows, but i wouldn't worry your pretty little head about them too much, worth the straight smile.
