Question: Do braces hurt and can I eat anything I want!.!?
Im getting braces in a couple of weeks and i was wondering if they hurt all the time and if I can eat anything I want!. I was also wondering if I have to brush my teeth after each meal!. ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Braces will only be a little uncomfortable when you first get them on because your teeth are not used to moving!. Periodically your teeth will adjust to them, and then you will usually have to get them tightened!. The tightening doesn't really hurt, but it takes about a day for your mouth to feel completely normal again!.
You cannot eat anything you want!.!.!.gum and fruit snacks such as fruit roll ups are a pain! they will get caught in your braces and they are rather hard to get out!. You could probably try them in moderation (i did) but definitely not every day!. I wouldn't say you have to brush your teeth after each meal, unless you have a bunch of food caught in your teeth, other than that I would stick to twice a day, ( morning and night)!. I've had braces for a little over a year, They hurt after you get them tightened for 3 days!. When you eat for those 3 days it's really hard to chew, you feel like your teeth are really weak!. But after those 3 days they get strong and you can eat normally!.
You CANT eat:
Sticky foods
Hard foods
Because you can easily break your braces!.
Eat much less:
candy
ice cream
cookies
cake
pie
foods with sugar
soda pop
drinks with sugar
avoid chewing on pens, pencils, ginfernails
I've been okay eating foods with sugar!.
But you have to brush your teeth alot!.

well when i got my braces on they hurt really badly and so will the spacers
also you cannot eat hard stuff, like jawbreakers, caramel, and chew gum, but you are alowed to chew the sugar free gum =]
i think the orthodontist will tell you what you cannot eat when you get them on
i do you can get some kind of gum disease if you dont brush enough or you will have like dark patches where your braces were and they will NOT go away and it is really ugly!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you get them on your ortho will have a little chat about chat you can and can't eat!. Braces don't hurt!.!.!.only when you try to eat the fist week (give or take) after you get them on, and after you get them tightened!
Oh, and for the people who said they just got them today and all, it actually doesnt hurt much the first day, and gets worse!. The most painful days will be the second to third

i have had braces for 3 years now!. when you first get them on they will advise you to eat soft stuff!. smoothies, mashed potatoes, soup, etc!. but after i got them i went to wendys =P!. the pain lasted for me for a couple of days!. but i have a higher tolerance for pain!. It hardly hurts me now even when i get them tightened!. you should be fine =]Www@Answer-Health@Com
everyone told me that but i never did!. it hurts a couple days after you get them on and every time u get them tightened but its really not that bad!. u really dont have to brush after every meal ull get used to ur braces itll feel normal!. u could if u wanted to make sure everythings out of them!. u can eat whatever u want, i did just make sure not to break them with certain things!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
They dont hurt AT ALL!. I got mine today and they don't even hurt i've already gotten used to the feeling!. Foods not to eat are like hard lollies, rollups etc!. For the first days you can't eat apples, toast, etc!.

brush your teeth very often cuz if you dont, when they come off you will have a delightful yellow/ white design on your teeth!. corn on the cob is even more of a problem with bracesWww@Answer-Health@Com
