What will you experience after having a root canal? Are there any limitations?!

Are you given pain medications or will tylenol work just as well!? Can you eat as normal or do you have to eat soft foods!? I'm having this done Wed, so any information would be appreciated!.

After the root canal is done, many people do not have any pain at all!. The dentist may or may not give you pain medication (it is not routinely done unless the dentist for whatever reason thinks you will have pain afterwards), but if you do, an anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen would be better than Tylenol!.

As for eating, you should try not to eat anything hard on the tooth after the root canal, until the tooth is completely restored!. After the root canal is done, the dentist will probably just place a temporary filling!.

If it is a back tooth, it will need to be crowned!. If it is a front tooth, it may or may not need to be crowned, but you should avoid chewing on it as much as possible until the final filling or other restoration is placed!.

Teeth that have had root canals are much more brittle and tend to fracture much more often until they are properly restored!. Then you can treat them like any other tooth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will be really numb for awhile afterward because they will give you novacaine during the procedure!. I didnt have a lot of pain after my root canals!. If you do have some pain though just take some Tylenol or advil and you should be fine!. As for limitations it just depends on if they finish your root canal the same day or if you have to have more appointments!. Sometimes if they are really bad or if you are getting a crown or capping the tooth, you may have to have more than one treatment to take care of it!. Some Dentists can do the crown or cap at the same time but most aren't able to!. So if you do have to have another appointment then you will probably have a temporary filling put in!. If they do put in a temp filling you just have to be careful not to eat anything too sticky because that can pull it out!. Also if you have a temp filling you need to make sure you don't eat anything at all for a couple of hours until it has set completely!. The temporary filling kinda feels like they put silly putty in your tooth but you get used to it pretty quickly!. I know it is unnerving to have to have a root canal but believe me you will be so much happier when it is done!. NO MORE TOOTHACHES! I hope my answer helps!. Feel free to ask if you have more questions!. I had to have lots of work on my teeth (they are really soft) so I am practically an expert on the subject (from the patients side)!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was reading about this, and they do give you medicine [a shot] to numb it so you will not feel anything!.!.!.but if you do tell them so they'll numb it more!.
It might also be a good idea to take a couple tylenols before you go, just to be sure you wont feel anything!.
You'll more than likely be able to eat like normal!.
But if you drink be careful because it'll probably run out of your mouth due to the numbness!.

Goodluck!.
Don't be afraid!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
