Braces............?!
Question: Braces!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!?
i am getting braces on july 21st and i dont know anything about them! can anyone tell me everything they know about braces! Also what color should i get other than white,black and yellow!? I am a 12 year old girl who likes to play sports! But i dont want my team colors!! thanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

I had braces when I was around 12, so this information is from my experience back in 1991, sorry if it's too 'old'!. :-#
First, most people get some teeth removed - I did not have this happen!.
Next, people get all these x-rays, of not just their teeth, but their entire head, neck, and jaw!. You also get molds made of what your teeth look like before braces!. I don't know if they use plaster of paris NOW but they did at the time, and I'm sure now they usecool computer graphic stuff :-)
After that, I got spacers - I think I had four of them, but I knew a friend who had six (poor girl)!. They stayed in for a week (I think - my son had one put in that stayed in that long before he got a space maintainer for a pulled molar)!. Those sucked a great deal, and I got lots of headaches!.
Then, they put metal bands around my molars, and dried out the teeth so they could basically glue the brackets on!. Then, they put in the wires!. Once in awhile, I'd get rubber bands or I'd be told how long to wear them/how to wear them (Oh - if you forget where to attach, call and ask where to atach them), and once I had a pwerchain!.
I had those on for about two and a half years and I actually only had problems in the beginning!. Nothing hurt but rubber bands, they just felt loose after tightening, but other people had pain!. I didn't, not really!.
I think that's about all!.
As for colors, I would not go with white because that stains easily, and I do agree that team or school colors is rather weird!. Just go with colors that YOU like, they're your teeth!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I got braces in April and I was so excited to get them! There are a few parts of the braces that I know, but I'm not sure if I know them all!. There are the brackets which is the place where the colors go the wires, that connect everything together, and the rubberbands, which are the colors!. There are little hooks in the back that they tighten everytime you go to the orthodontist!. After a tightening, your mouth will definitely feel sore!. You say you play sports, but are you also a girly girl!? Cause if you are, pink or purple can be another color choice!. How many colors are you allowed to have at a time!? when you first get your braces, make sure you eat plenty of food before your mouth starts hurting, because after that, you will scarce eat anything for a few days!.!. or that's how it was for me!. make sure you eat lots of soft foods when your mouth hurts!.
for the color of the braces, don't get yellow or white, they make your teeth look gross!. i have always prefered to do dark red, and an aqua blue!. also, black makes your teeth look whiter, so thats a bonus!.
when and if you have to wear rubber bands, make sure you wear them as much as possible!. the more you wear them, the sooner you will get your braces off- thats how it was for me!. ive had my braces on for like a year and a half and i get them off early because i wore my rubber bands!.
oh and make sure you brush your teeth really good or else you could get spots on your teeth that show where your brackets were!.!. that wouldn't be too good!.
oh another good option for braces colors is to pick out your eye color, this will most likey make your eyes pop a little more!. (: oh!.!. and dont get rainbow!.!. it looks kinda weird!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Braces make a huge difference to your confidence and the way you feel about the way you look!. I am a very smiley happy person and braces didnt affect me at all, the outcome at the end kept me going as my teeth are perfect now :) Your teeth will ache at first and then when you get them tightened or new things are brought in, they will also ache but stick to soft foods and cut food up such as an apple into quarters so you dont risk breaking a wire for example!. Its great that your having them done at a young age too as i didnt have mine done until i was 15 so i was very worried that they wouldnt be off before my leaving school prom but luckily they were :) good luck with them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I believe you can get the braces in all sorts of colours!. my daughter will be fitted with hers in about 3 months and she wants pink and purple :)
the dentist will be able to tell you everything you need to know, i think you need a special toothbrush but not sure!. i know you have to be carefull what foods to eat so they dont ping off your teeth!. I'm sure you can still eat chocolate :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just don't get white or clear!. They stain and make your teeth look dirty!.
You can even mix them up if you want!.
If you're going to eat something hard it's better to break it into little piece!.
Definitely don't eat pizza crusts!. [I learned that the hard way!. >!.<]

Get amethyst or azure (which is a blue)!. They hurt for the first week or so!. but it really depends on the person!. Search the net!.

braces could be annoying at first but once you take them of you will miss them!. they will hurt a bit when they tighten them thats normal and the brackets will break if you eat hard things alot!. so just take it easy you'll be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
when you put braces on they wont hurt but you'll have them for 5 years and every month you'll need new ones so just hope for the best and if you want your braces could be patterned i would suggest you pick your favorite colorWww@Answer-Health@Com
