If it's the ones you place yourself, it's better than nothing, but they're no substitute for proper dental treatment!. Make sure your teeth are properly clean before you put them in, and keep you teeth really clean afterwards (until you can get to the dentist)!.
However you've said you have some really big cavities - it's probable that the decay will continue to spread and will eventually affect the pulp (nerves) of your tooth, in which case you'll need a root canal treatment or extraction!. It's best to get to the dentist asap to avoid even more hassle and expense!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes!. a temporary filing does work or the DDS wouldn't put one in!.!.!.However, as the word implies, the filing is indeed "Temporary"!.!.!.How long it last is dependent on the kind of material used, how well it's applied and what surface of the tooth it covers!.!.!.If for example the temp fling is on the chewing surface in a corner area it may not last as long because the chewing pressures can more easily wear it and even crush it!. Tell you what, if you just plane can't get back to the DDS for a real filing do this!. If there is a Dental College near you, call the "Out Patient Clinic"!.!.!.the dental schools clinic can fix you up and the cost will be between Free and very Low, dependent on your financial situation!. They will work for a while but cannot be used as a long term solution to cavities, they are intended for use in the short term until you can get to your dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
