Question: Retainers BEFORE braces!?
hi, i have just been to the dentist for braces and i have a deep overbite!. the dentist has given me a retainer to wear on my upper teeth but i just want to know why he has given me a retainer before braces!. i know i will have to wear a retainer after my proper fixed braces will come off, just wondered why i need to wear the retainer beforeWww@Answer-Health@Com

Its braces are good for precise movement so you'll probably have the retainer to move your bite back then braces to line the teeth up nicely and then a retainer to keep the teeth straight!.

My friend has to have a retainer before her brace!. She needs to get her teeth in a certain shape before they can put the brace on, its so she can have the actual brace on for less time, its also easier for your dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
i used to have retainers and then braces!.!.!. wann't fun at all, mate!. i was the laughing stock of the whole wide world!. couldn't even eat sweets caus i would get 'em all stuck in between my teeth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
maybe he needs to get your teeth into a certain position before he can affix a brace fo best effect!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
