How long should a crown be sore and should you have a bad taste and smell in you!

Question:

How long should a crown be sore and should you have a bad taste and smell in your mouth?

I recently received a crown last Wednesday and it is still very sore, can't eat whole lot on that side. Also every since my mouth hasn't felt as clean and my breath seems somewhat funky at times even after I brush and used mouthwash. I have never experienced this, is this normal? I've had other crowns but I've never went through this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answers:

The crown may have to be adjusted or filed down to fit your other teeth. Even if it's a little bit off it can cause pain. Anytime dental work is done there is a possibility of infection which can lead to bad breath. Call the dentist. I had to do this myself. A cousin had a root canal and needed antibiotics afterward due to a post op infection.
