If I get one of my teeth pulled will I still be able to get Invisalign?!

Question:

If I get one of my teeth pulled will I still be able to get Invisalign?

I might need to get one of my back teeth pulled (the 3rd one from the back) and Im just really curious as to weather or not I will still be able to get invisalign if i get it pulled.

( root canal is also an option but im not sure which one i want to do)

anyone have any clue?

Answers:

If this tooth can be saved with a root canal, then by all means have one done. Invisalign should be second on your list of dental priorities when the vitality of a tooth is in question.

If this is your 3rd molar or wisdom tooth, then most likely they will want to extract it, unless you have the space available to support the full dentition. Not many dentists will perform root canal therapy on a 3rd molar, unless this tooth is needed.

As for using Invisalign after having a tooth removed, only your orthodontist can tell you if you will still be a candidate for this appliance. It would be better to save this tooth rather than loose 4 just to compensate for its loss. If this is a bicuspid they would want to remove all four if you have one extracted. The teeth need to be even, or match upper and lower with each other; bicuspid to bicuspid or 1st molar to 1st molar.
Hope I've been of some help and good luck with your root canal and the upcoming orthodontic treatment.
