Dental assistants, taking x-rays?!

Question: I am almost finished with school and will be working as a dental assistant in just a few months. Do you need to be licensed to be able to take x-rays? If so, how do you find out where to go and how long does it usually take?

Thanks.

Go to www.danb.org and look up the laws for your state in reference to what's needed (certificate/license), if anything, to perform basic and expanded duties.

That site (Dental Assisting National Board) will give you all the info you need.

Welcome to the dental profession!

:)

I'm guessing that since you have decided to be a dental assistant, you have taken some sort of course in dental assisting. Usually, the institutions offering these courses also give information as to the location and manner in which to obtain an x-ray license which you need to take x-rays legally.
