How do you know if you have a cavity or if you need a root canal?
My tooth kills me, it makes my jaw hurt and my ear, it also gives me a headache. I've seen my tooth and it looks gross like a cavity but I don't know if I will have to have a root canal? How can you tell? I know go to the dentist. but other than that can you tell?
Answers:
Tooth decay starts out painless....so by the time you start feeling pain there could be a lot of damage to the tooth and nerves. I don't think you can tell if you need a root canal or not...that's up to the dentist and what he sees when he looks in your mouth and at the xrays.
