I am still having pain 72 hrs after a tooth extraction....Don't think it's dry s!

Question:

I am still having pain 72 hrs after a tooth extraction....Don't think it's dry socket because....read details!

I don't think the pain I'm having is dry socket because looking in the socket i see blood/puss so that must be a clot, I'm assuming? And if I had dry socket there wouldn't be anything in the socket, right? I'm just trying to figure out why I'm having pain still 3 days after the extraction...The tooth was very, very hard to get out so I'm wondering if the pain is just because the extraction was traumatic? Any thoughts as to why I'm having pain? Is it normal? Help! The dentist is closed today for Memorial Day!!!

Answers:

Sounds normal to me. The pain should be decreasing and if t isn't you need to see your dentist tomorrow. It usually takes about a week for the pain to go away. Had to have 5 teeth pulled!
