Is there anyway to correct a lisp?!

Question: I have a lisp and I was wondering if there was anyway I could "turn it off".

It's not that bad but people do seem to notice.

p.s.
I have the kind where I have difficulty pronouncing words with the letter "S".

Yes, speech therapy is the best bet.

I always found it amusing that they made the defining word for a speech impediment with an "S" in it. It's like rubbing it in. It's a very hard thing to work on and can only be fixed through alot of hard work. There are speech therapists out there who help but they charge like a wounded bull. try simple words with s' in them and practice trying to pronounce them correctly. slow and steady wins the race.
Good luck with it!

It would be wonderful if you could just "turn it off". Unforunately it has to be worked on. You need to practice saying s words with your tounge well out of the way of your teeth and then consciously make an effort when talking.

Speech therapy...i.e. read out loud as much as possible. Read poetry for an hour (out loud) before you go to bed...:-)
