Does rinsing your mouth out too aften after a tongue piercing change the color o!

Question:

Does rinsing your mouth out too aften after a tongue piercing change the color of your tongue?

Ive had my tongue pierced before and dont remember what it looked like but i had it done two days ago and have been rinsing with the non-alcohol rinse and saltwater and noticed that my tongue looked a little tannish colored (i also drank coke not too long ago)...this is normal right? it hardly hurts anymore

Answers:

It's probably the color of the listerine you are using. Are you using the yellowish kind? If so that will make your tongue change color. If you are using the blue kind it will make your tongue a blushish hue.

The alcohol in Listerine will make your taste buds swell a little bit making it more susceptible to color changes. This is completely normal.

Keep rinsing though. You want to rinse out for a week after the swelling goes down all the way. You dont want to get any nasty infections.

When you are through the healing faze brush your tongue ring top and bottom to prevent plaque build up.
