Yes, it happens. Sometimes the tastebuds get irritated or over stimulated and yes, it can happen from hot food or drink.
that happens to me when i drink coffee to fast or just a big sip. you most likely burned your tounge!

Yes, but I don't know what causes it - I didn't burn my tongue so that's not it! maybe a virus or eating very acidic foods?
