Are amalgam fillings bad for your health?!

Question: I have had a few for years now, thinking of having them removed and replaced with an alternative.

Answers: I have had a few for years now, thinking of having them removed and replaced with an alternative.

No there is no research out there that links amalgam fillings to any health problems. Also it willl be quite expensive to have composite filling placed an deach time you put a drill to a tooth you run the risk of the nerve becoming inflammed and causing toothache. This would mean root canal treatment to save the tooth which is expensive and only carries a 70% success rate for a molar tooth.

Leave sleeping dogs lie. Its better to ask your dentist for a white filling if you are ever told that one of your fillings need to be replaced.

If they were bad for your health, your dentist would have already told you so. Speak to the expert.

I have also read up in the past that they can be bad, but dunno how true it is. They even effect your heart vessels and stuff if i remember correctly.

it's not bad for your health so your perfectly safe. however, some people see it as harmful to the environment. hence why it's illegal in norway

Some dentists ( holistic ones mainly ) think there are some health risks associated with amalgum.Even the government has guidelines for pregnant women. So they cant be 100% safe as some would have you believe.
A high percentage of people also have an allergy to amalgum fillings. Something the experts dont tell the public about. Some countries have banned them completely.
If you do get them removed-it must be done by a dentist experienced in amalgum removal. Mainly these are holistic/alternative dentists.
Also dentists have a high ill health rate, some think is linked to working with mercury, which they are taught is safe and they believe it !

This would be a total waste of your hard earned $$$$. I have been in practice since 1970 and have seen this brandied about since the mid 70's. There are NO, repeat NO, published documented studies that show that amalgams are unhealthy. In fact, all dental materials with the exception of gold [yep, even the white composites] can cause problems with your health if you EAT enough of them. There are always going to be fear mongers out there...including a number of dentists who want to profit from this.
