I am terrifies of the dentist. What should I do?!
Question:
I am terrifies of the dentist. What should I do?
I think I might have a root canal and I'm really not good with pain. I'm scarred they'll touch my nerves, I know it hruts like hell. Should I go into therapy before? How do I accept the fact that they might hit the nerve & i'm going to go nuts? I've had it happen once & I hated the feeling.
Answers:
First, a root canal is a procedure, not a condition. You don't "have a root canal", you have it done. And getting a root canal is really no big deal. The doctors are very good about getting you numbed up and you won't feel a thing. If, by chance, they begin the procedure and you are experiencing a little pain, tell them, and they'll give you more local anesthetic. Trust me. I have had two root canals done in the last month and I actually got bored during the procedure. I wished they had a TV I could watch. Really, you'll be fine. Just relax and it will be OK.
