It is a bizarre question but i have a similar thing. When i touch something like a cotton ball - the squeeky sound it makes when you touch it makes me want to grind my teeth. And i am talking about just touching it with my hand. I am not putting anything in my mouth... i think that is what you are saying, too. No idea why. But, you are not alone..

What the hell are you putting in your mouth?!?

See a dentist!

Sensitive teeth??
I use a sensitive toothpaste and cold, hot and acid don't bother me so much.
All the best

Well what "certain materials" do you mean, for God's sake?

Oh, I see your User ID.....that says it all

You probably have sensitive teeth, just use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, like Sensodine.

maby cavities because i have two cavities and i had them filled in and when i touch foil with my tooth its feels weird.

Might be your fillings reacting to something (if you have fillings).

crack cocaine and methamphetamines can ruin your teeth!

You have sensitive teeth. Buy some Sensodyne toothpaste.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? You didn't know that already??? Ooookay.

I have that too.... like when the dentist cleans your teeth and he puts a cotton ball in my mouth i hate the feeling on my teeth it feels wierd and makes me crench.......i dont know why but if it is like that than you arent the only one!

thats a really good question, id see your dentist SOON!

yea what the hell r u putting in you mouth W-H-A-T T-H-E H-E-L-L

It depends on what you're touching and how you're touching it....

If you mean hot or cold things, then you might have really sensitive teeth or even be working on a cavity. On the other hand, being exposed to certain chemicals can cause tingly sensations anywhere in your body.

Anyway, I would mention this to your dentist. Yahoo Answers is not the best place to go for medical advice.

Hey knife that was rude shut-up!
They are just sensitive probably of u have a cavity...
I would get a checj-up at the dental office locally and see if u have a cavity. Also, for the possible sensitivity try tooth paste with sensitivity protection

I know EXCACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! Sometimes I eat certain foods like sugary or crunchy things and my teeth hurt like I have a cavity, or tingle, but there isnt any cavity or infection like that. I suggest stay away from the items/foods that make your teeth feel funny. If it feels good then no problem, but if it is bad, then i recommend getting your teeth checked by a dentist, or reading up on google. try searching Teeth sensations. Good luck.

be more specific, this could be a lot of things. But generally speaking, it's your tooth nerve that sends this feeling to your brain. That's why when you chipped a tooth, even blowing air on your teeth will make your tooth feel weird.
But yeah... could you be more specific? =)

you have your enamel that covers your teeth but many things can cause that barrier to erode (grinding, acid)

so if your teeth your sensitive, perhaps the nerves in your teeth are exposed and when eat certain things, it can cause a weird feeling, a sensitive feeling.

also that aluminum foil trick can give you a little shock b/c the contents of your saliva can send a current to the foil.

just be careful when you eat. if you eat something with acid don't brush your teeth right away. let your teeth build up strength before you go at it.

oh take vitamins :) keep those teeth strong.

With your hands?

I think I know what you mean. When I was like 4 I used to have this when I thought of rhinoceros horns or paper. How weird is that?

Maybe you are sensing radio frequencies picked up due to braces or dental work.

Because you have very sensitive teeth. My teeth is the same way.
