Do I have a dry socket from my wisdom tooth extraction?!

Question:

Do I have a dry socket from my wisdom tooth extraction?

I got them out about 4 or 5 days ago, and on the 3rd day my bottom left started hurting. i shrugged it off, and took more painkillers. when i first got home from the surgery, i rinsed the blood out of my mouth becuase i was so drugged after, i didn't hear them say not to. i kept forgetting about the no straw rule, but i didnt drink out of a straw until about the 3rd day. the rest of my mouth is completely fine, but the bottom left one has been hurting alot. painkillers don't help it out that much. last night i couldn't go to sleep because it was causing a throbbing feeling around my ear area. i know those are symptoms, but i'm kind of doubting i have it becuase the pain is tolerable, for the most part. it's not horrible, but it's still hurting worse than everything else.

what do you guys think? what should i do about the dry socket? is it really a serious thing, or can i let it heal by itself?

Answers:

if it's bleeding, yes. Call the dentist right away.
