Which 1st when it comes to Listerine?!

Question: My boyfriend and I always have this argument when it comes to listerine. I say you brush your teeth 1st and then use listerine. The listerine "coats" you teeth and protects them for up to 12hrs. He say, use listerine 1st and then brush your teeth. Listerine help lossen all the crap on your teeth so you'd brush after words. The label doesn't say what to do. So which is the correct way?

HELLO,
THINK OF USING LISTERINE AS GETTING A CAR WASH.
YOU FIRST WASH OFF ALL THE GRIME, THEN GIVE IT A SHINE AND POLISH.
WHEN YOU BRUSH AND FLOSS YOU FIRST REMOVE ALL THE GRIME (bacterial plaque) THEN, YOU FINISH BY SWISHING WITH LISTERINE TO GIVE A VERY EFFECTIVE STANDARD.

I would go toward your boyfriend's opinion and I'll explain:

1st, for someone normal with no bad breath, periodontitis, handicap unabling him to brush/floss, listerine is pretty useless.
Furtermore, if you use it it doesn't coat your tooth... its a immediate effect. afterward, the alcool in it will be metabolized by bacterias, hence helping those to grow back...

So if you want to use if for any reason, if you use it before brushing, you will at least clean it and rince it touroughly and then remove its residus not to help bacterias to grow back too fast...

Yet again thats just my opinion but with my explanation, you can build your own opinion..

If I was you I would simply bruch my teeth for a minute in a half then i would use listerine. You are right it coats your teeth and protects them for up to 12 hours. ou boyfriend has his own opinion on how to do things. I simply bruch my teeth for a minute in a half and then i floss and then motuh wash but you can do any way its actually no big deal. Your boifriend may do it differntly becuase of its teeth. Like my cousin has wisdom teeth so she uses listerine then she brushs and it makes me disgusted. Lol but anyway whatever makes you feel comfortable. Its really not a big deal.

I gave my best in all that i said!

Afterward. I always have.

My husband's dentist told him not to use blue listerine or blue scope because it stains your teeth but instead to use clear.

You should floss, brush, and then Listerine. You shouldn't eat or drink anything for @ least 30 minutes afterward. This gives the Listerine time to kill the bacteria and protect the teeth. It would wasting the Listerine if you gargled and then brushed....that's defeating the purpose. As for it losing the 'crap'...well that's just not true. Your saliva loosens everything up while you chew...you'll only have build up if you don't brush or floss for awhile and then that is called plaque. If the plaque stays there long enough, it turns to calculus and that's really bad.
