Who has had their wisdom teeth removed?!

Question: I just had them all removed this morning, without IV sidation.... It sucked but it was better than getting drunk on laughing gas and being pushed around on a wheelchair.
Anyways, I had one impacted tooth and that one is sown up now. the others, however, are not sown, they are just a big hole in my gum. I'm not going to lie, it's kind of creppy knowing that I might bleed from that hole anytime and anytime somehting gets into my mouth, it might clog that hole. Can someone walk me through the phazes that are about to take place? I know what I'm suppose to do. I just want an insight. How's are those holes in my gum where my teeth used to be going to go away?

So, first i'd like to say i'm a dental assistant and i know the pain you are going through i had 4 impacted wisdom teeth and i wasn't put out either. You will be very sore and uncomfortable. But in the next few days your mouth will heal it takes a few weeks to completely heal just keep the guaze in your mouth until the bleeding has completely stopped.

Then rinse your mouth after every time you eat after 24 hours. don't suck through a straw or SPIT you could dislodge the blood clot that's formed in the space where your tooth used to be, and you will be in more pain then you could ever imagine. it's called a dry socket. so please refrain from causing any kind of suction in your mouth.

The doctors office might have given you a 410 monojet syringe to clear debris in the surgery site. If you have alot of pain or "oozing" from where the teeth were soak a tea bag in water for a few mins then bite on it. there is a natural sedative in the tea leaves. that should help some.

Anyways your mouth heals very fast faster then most other parts of your body. any other questions you can email butterflymoon2316@yahoo.com.

Dont use straws and eat bland foods such as soups, pudding, applesauce, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. Nothing you need to chew on. If you are a smoker, dont smoke until 1 week.

aw im sorry. im getting that done in about a month. pretty worried :(
i think the holes will just heal themselves... it may take a while but after a bit you will probably not feel them as much.
hope everything goes well for you

It only takes about a week to feel back to normal and the holes in your mouth will close with time. I got through it afterward by eating pudding and mashed potatoes for 3 days straight. After that everything was fine.

i just had a wisdom tooth removed too (last week) and it's still sore. everytime i eat i just simply rinse my mouth out with salt and warm water. are you taking the pain meds the dentist gave you?? just make sure you rinse everytime you eat so that you wont have food in that hole.

This is my experience:
Day 1- The Removal: I went home and slept off the sedation. Ate some jello, and slept off the percocet.

Day 2- Woke up around 4 am in serious pain. Took an 800mg Ibuprofen tablet and a percocet two hours later. Fell asleep every two hours, then slept for two or three hours.

Day 3- Woke up again very early in pain. Took a percocet without eating; passed out after I was standing for a while. Attempted to eat tater tots: big mistake.

Day 4- Didn't wake up in as much pain, took IBU 800 mg tablet instead of percocet. Had a fever and felt very feverish.

Day 5- By day 5 I was able to eat semi-solid foods and my stitches finally fell out.

The holes will close... but not for a while. And food is going to get stuck in there for a while, which is really annoying. Get a syringe after a week and a half to keep food out of there to fight infection.
Otherwise, after the second day, rinse with salt water after every meal and before bed. and DON'T use straws.
