Teeth whitening and cavities?!

Question: I have some small cavities that I have to have filled in my front teeth. I would like to get my teeth whitened. Should I try to start using the whitening stuff first? I am kind of worried. If the filling isn't very white then will it be darker than the rest of the tooth after I whiten it?
