You will NOT die! Geez people she wrote IMPACTED not INFECTED and because they are impacted does not mean they will get infected! Unless your mouth is too small to accomodate your wisdom teeth or there is an indication that they will grow in at an angle, pushing your other teeth out of alignment , removing them is elective and you don't have to decide today... by a few months would be ok. They are easier to remove when they are smaller but it can be done after they break through and surface. Tell the Oral surgeon how you feel and he may be able to prescribe a mild sedative that you can take before your proceedure to calm your fears. A good Oral surgeon will take the time to make you comfortable by educating you on what is involved before, during, and after your proceedure. FYI, I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed when they were full grown and obviously a ghost is not writing this.

impacted teeth could be fatal...better odds with them being extracted...i've had 9 extracted and whoa the relief...

You NEED surgery. You could die if you do not get the surgery. The infection will just continue to get worse over time and may spread to the tissue beneath your chin and cause enough swelling that it can actually suffocate you. Also, the infection can cause damage to the teeth next to it, eventually killing those teeth and those teeth would need to be taken out. They will put you to sleep and you will not even know anything happened. They put an iv in and you don't remember anything after that. You need this so just go see an oral surgeon and get it done. It is only scary b/c it is the fear of the unknown, but I don't remember anything from when they took mine out.

Don't let the fear overcome you. There are dentists that specialize in phobic patients. I've had an impacted molar extraced and had a certain level of fear. My dentist was able to put me at ease with a combination of novacaine, nitrous, and a slight electric pulse on a nerve ending in my hand. The oral surgery was easy as could be.

It's kind of funny that you say you are "deathy afraid". It is this simple; face your fear and move on with life or look death itself right in the face. Impacted teeth are very very dangerous. I know that you don't want to have the surgery but I know you really want to live also. It's not as bad as you fear it will be. I promise.

First of all if they are impacted they will have to come out, or you will experience more pain from the infection than the surgery itself. Second, go to an oral surgeon, he will be able to put you under while doing it and you won't feel a thing. after a few days it will feel much better, I know because my daughter had the same thing and was going out after only two days. Just go have it done, you'll be glad you did. Also, it is normal to be scared with any procedure so don't feel silly about that. Just do it.

I would need to see the radiographs to actually tell you the extent of the problems you could have, but yes...it can lead to some pretty bad problems. they could become absessed in which you would need them removed and the abcess drained, if growing into the tooth next to them, they can cause alot of pain and also start to move the tooth or even damage the root of the tooth next to it. or if growing toward the jaw, they could cause jaw problems. and you always stand the risk that as they grow, the roots of wisdom teeth can be unpredictable and they tend to get close to the nerves making surgery if needed in the future more complicated and risky. your best bet is to have them removed. the surgery is very routine and there is nothing to be scared of. they put you out so you dont feel a thing while they work and your sore for a few days afterwards. the holes are stitched up and they give you pain killers. I was back to school the day after my surgery and eating solid foods. talk to your dentist about it and they will reassure you that there is nothing to be scared of
