Am I safe from dry sockets yet?!

Question: I got my wisdom teeth out 5 days and 7 hours ago. I can finally eat well, and I smoked on the 3rd day VERY gently and have had no problems. I either brushed my teeth or gargled salt water after having a cigarette to keep any bacteria out. Do I still have a chance at getting a dry socket now or should everything be healed up pretty well? I get my stitches out in less than 2 days.

You should be okay. The critical time for dislodging a blood clot and causing a dry socket is in the first 48 hours. Now you are probably more at risk for infection than dry socket. Be sure to rinse your mouth well especially after eating and use the irrigation syringe they will give you at your next appointment. Good luck!

Quit smoking period!!!!
I really wasn't trying to be ugly. I am in the dental field and I see what it does to peoples teeth and gums, but i know it's none of my business. sorry :)
