Do dogs contemplate suicide??!
Question: OK...it seems lately that Sampson (my lovely black lab) has gotten depressed. I tried to talk to him, but he just keeps looking out the window and ignoring me. He mopes around the house a lot, and seems disinterested in his food. He barely picks at it. It all seems to have happened since Cecily, the female poodle a few doors down, moved, along with the owner, of course. Could Sampson be so heartbroken he is contemplating suicide??

no to the suicide but I think they can get depressed
I hope you are walking him everyday and getting him to a dog park or out with other people and dogs
Animals might not know that they can die, or have a concept that they are living. But I think they do have emotions and can get depressed.
Veterinarians have prescribed Prozac for behavioral problems with dogs, including depression. So, if Sampson's moping goes on for a while, that might be an option.
And hey, what are you doing with my avatar? ;)
