Why is sugar bad for teeth?!
Question: It is bad because it sticks to your teeth and provides nourishment for bacteria to thrive and that causes plaque to build up.
Furthermore, sugar is often combined with other harmful substances that can be damaging to the tooth enamel. Soft drinks are acidic and frequent consumption causes the enamel to deteriorate.
The harmful effects of fat on your teeth should also not be forgotten. Fat often stays on the teeth longer than sugar since saliva doesn't dissolve it, and causes similar damage to the teeth.

Because bacteria use it as food, and when they consume the sugar and reproduce their wastes damage the teeth.
The bacteria in your mouth nourish themselves on YOUR diet of sugars and carbohydrates. The bacteria then excretes ACID as a waste product. The ACID eats away at your enamel and dentin to produce what is known as a cavity (decay or carie).
You eat sugar, then bacteria eat the sugar you've eaten, then they go to the bathroom on your teeth. So basically it is bacteria pee and poo that rots your teeth=) YUMMY!
Here are two equations they thought me in school:
1. Carbohydrates (sugar) + Plaque (bacteria)= Acid + Tooth surface= Cavities
2. Carbohydrates (sugar) + Plaque (bacteria)= Toxins + Gingiva= Gingivitis--> Periodontitis
To put it simply :
Bacteria ferment on the sugars to produce acid which demineralises the dental hard tissues.
Time + sugar + bacteria + teeth = CARIES
you have got all the right answers. Nothing left for me.
