What's a best cure for poking of the braces wire?!

Question:

What's a best cure for poking of the braces wire?

It has been about 2 weeks since I got my braces one. From day one, there has been a wire on my front teeth and it has been annoying and hurting my lips a lot!!! I went to my ortho, and he just said to apply a small piece of wax on it. So I did. And I am almost out of wax. I know I buy can buy some but I don't want to... What's the best cure for getting rid of a poking wire? Will it damage my braces?

Answers:

The wire on the top might be the little hooks that are stuck up and down on your other wires. there are two particular spots where there are up and down hooks that sticks out. I do not suggest you cutting the wires because there is use for those later on and putting gum on there will only get stuck and become messy. I would say stick with the wax. Ask your ortho or their asst. for more wax. They are supposed to supply it for you so you wont have to get anything else. Also, you paid lots of money for the braces so, why are you going to go damage them? Your treatment might also be delayed if you alter them. It took me 1 month before my mouth got used to those wires and hooks, so just put on more wax as your gums adjust to your braces. Everything takes time....
