I LOST my retainer!!!!?

Ok, I know that when you get your braces off, your othodontist says "Now don't lose your retainer"
Well just my luck, I lost it.
But I havent been wearing it for maybe 2 months or 3 months, and i havent told my mom. I am just to scared to tell her because i know for a fact that she will kill me. because getting a new retainer costs a fortune.
But i can look through my room, and maybe try using a metal detector to help find it??
I just need some helpful advice and some encouraging words.

i first got braces to fix the gaps between my front teeth, and now they are moving apart again because ii havent worn my retainer..
so do you think when i find it, they will move back?

I was in the same position as you and the same teeth problem. The only thing I can tell you is tell your parents. Sure, they are going to be mad but I mean the longer you wait to tell them the angrier they are going to get. The first time I lost my retainer, I took them out to eat. I was trying to find them because well my mom was on my back telling me to put them on because I haven't worn them in a while. It was bad luck because, I lost them. I haven't told my mom in a couple of days. I wanted to tell her when she was in a good mood. Of course she got mad but told me not to lose them again and to keep them in my case. If I did, she is not going to get anymore because she felt as though she was wasting money.

So honestly, tell your parents. Maybe they will help you find them or catch the on a good day and tell them.
