my teeth from shifting till i get to the dentist!!

It depends on how long you have to wait until your appointment. I would just say don't eat anything you weren't allowed to eat when you had braces. I know Apple Orthodontix gave me a magnet full of things that I couldn't eat. Ice, hard candy, etc. I think you should avoid and hard food.
Sorry you lost your retainer. I had friends that lost theirs all the time. I never wore mine... that's probably why my teeth have shifted a little bit. :(
