Impacted teeth surgery fear-help please?!

Question:

Impacted teeth surgery fear-help please?

i have two impacted teeth on my left side and the dentist told me that it has to be extracted.i am in great fear now just because of the following reasons:
1.pain after the anaesth is gone.
2.developing a dry socket(what should i do to avoid this)
3.will i feel any pain during the surgery.
4.should i go for a local anaesth or general.
5.how to avoid pulling out the blood clot when i take out the gauze as the gauze may stick to the blood clot.
6.what should i eat.(immediately,after 10 days)
7.will i feel least sensation after the anaesth is injected.

PLEASE HELP.

Answers:

1- you will probably be prescribed a motrin for swelling along with a pain pill. Just make sure u get them filled immediately and take one pain pill before the anesthetic wears off. Keep taking them regularly and u will be fine.
2- Do not drink through a straw, smoke, or any sucking motion with your mouth. Stay on a liquid diet for atleast 2 hours and a soft diet for about a week.
3- If you are having a "surgery" you wont feel or remember anything. If you are just having them removed with local anesthetic you will not feel anything as long as he numbed you properly... make sure to let him know if there is any pain.
4- It depends on how you feel. Local can start to wear off if they are really impacted. You will feel and hear alot of cracking and popping, but I think you feel better afterwards. General Anesthesia you will not remember anything, however dentist tend to be a bit harder if ur completely out, leaving the healing process a little harder.
5 -they should go over instructions w/ you on the gauze. We recommended only leaving the gauze in for about 2 hours after removing the tooth, replacing it every 30 min. leaving it in longer than this can dislodge the clot and/or make the site keep bleeding.
6-u will start w/ a liquid diet, or soft foods only on that side for about a week. After a week start light and work your way into heavier food. Avoid chewing near the sites for about a week if possible, dont play with the stitches w/ ur tongue or finger either.
7- local anesthetic takes about 10 mins. to take full effect. Usually more than one shot is needed, just let him know. General anesthetic they will usually put u to sleep in a matter of minutes of starting the IV. You will not yet be completely numb when they start working, but u wont know that :)
Hope that helps.
