For a harder work out push yourself so you feel slightly uncomfortable but not in pain, and/or you can do interval training. Shorter and Harder bursts of speed for 1-4 minutes, though if you're just starting i would only try to do the bursts for 1-2 minutes, then rest for 3-6 minutes and then do another burst. exercise bike isn't very effective, in my opinion. It just works your legs. To lose weight, you need to do aerobic exercise like walking, jogging or running. That'll make your body work harder and you'll burn 10x more fat.
Don't expect anything to happen after 2 days... if you want to have change in your life, work for it.
I run 5km every second day, and I work out until my muscles fail me every third day (2 days rest for muscles).
