Question: Which machines should i use at the gym? 10 points!!?
I'm going to start going to the gym, starting tommrow! So my mission is to loose 10 pounds. What machines should i be using treadmill, bicycle, etc.? The thing is i dont want muscle, i just want weight loss:/ i know that is kinda hard! So what machines should i use? And for how long?

Answers:

treadmill. running is the best thing when it comes to losing weight/fat.



You're not gonna get all bulky just because you use weights. You DO need to strength train, because muscle is what burns calories. Cardio is important - It sounds like you aren't too out of shape based on your loss goal, so treadmill probably wouldn't hurt. If you ARE a bigger person, treadmills can hurt your knees and you should stick to rowing or eliptical cycles (like a cross-country ski-machine) so you don't do impact damage.

As for the weight training: Doing lots of reps at low weight will do far more for your physique than you may think. Lower weight will not add bulk beyond what your body naturally wants to carry, and doing high reps is also cardio intensive.

You get double the payoff, and won't be bored by the same machine over and over again.



Old crow ink is one of the few sites I've found that seems to understand this type of problem. You might want to see if one of their programs works for you. There is no fast program which works for everyone, all the time. Crash diets, pills, excessive exercise programs might work once but not for the long term. Try something that can adjust to weight changes and age.
