Question: My BMI is 26!.7 qualifying as over wieght how is this possible im not even fat!?
Ok according to the BMI calculators I've found on line im over weight!. I should be at 24!.9 and under to be a normal weight!. Im a male and im 21, 5'9'',181lbs!. None of my friends think im fat cause i don't look fatbut i do have a small belly!. I use to play a lot of soccer so i have pretty big strong legs but i stopped because of injuries!.I started going to the gym 2 weeks a go M-F , running 30 min @6!.6 mph, doing situps everyday , doing weigths and i have someone @ the gym helping me!. I started eating healthy and staying away from bad fats(soda, cookies, cakes, chips, pizza fried chicken hamburgers)!. If i take my shirt off youll see that i do have a belly but if i have it on u cant really tell and i wear M shirts some are L!. Am i really over weight!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think BMI translates as BS!. As in Bull S*it!. I lift weights all the time, and I'm pretty muscular!. Since BMI doesn't ask how much muscle I have, the fact that I'm 5'9" and 210 lbs!. means that I'm profoundly overweight somehow, even though I don't have love handles and I have a great figure!.
Ignore BMI, go by how fit you think you are!. Can you do an hour of cardio!? Or, instead, can you lift a lot!? That's all that matters!. Don't look at a scale, don't look at BMI, and don't rely on those electronic fat percentage calculators that some gyms have!. If you look good and feel good, that's all anybody cares about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not accurate for anyone who goes to the gym and lifts!. Muscle weighs a lot more than fat and bmi doesn't take muscle into consideration!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well BMI's are very average and if you have muscle then that can even it out!. Also shirt size can depend on bone structure (such as shoulder width)Www@Answer-Health@Com

For about 10% of people (who are mostly male and work out a lot, some females too but not as many) BMI doesn't work!. I think you should try to get to 25-26 to get rid of your belly, but judging by the activity you do, I don't think you're as big as the average BMI 27 male, thanks to muscle!.
