Is there such a thing as over-dieting?!

Question: Is there such a thing as over-dieting!?
I've done what I can to basically change my lifestyle!. I eat healthier (mainly fruit, veggies, and lean cuts of meat) I am not one that eats much fast food anymore and have completely cut out all soda and sweets!. I like to try to exercise as often as possible (which some days I just can't because of my hectic schedule but I try - even if it means parking in the furthest parking spot from the door and walking the distance!.) Anyway, I have managed to lose 20 lbs in as little as 2 months and I think that is awesome!. I have a friend who is telling me that I am over-dieting and that I should take a break before my body gives out!. How is that possible if I am eating right, exercising, and doing everything healthy!? She says that I need to take a break in order to jump start my metabolism!. What!? I just don't get it!. How does binging on sweets jump start my metabolism!? Please can somebody explain!?

I'm sure that my friend means well by saying all this, but she is more over-weight than I ever was and quite frankly I really don't see her advice as a concrete source!. If she were smaller than me!.!.!.then I may consider it!. But she still swears she is right no matter what I say!. Can you please give me some solid feedback for evidence to support that what I am doing is fine!? I just need ammo to hold my ground!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've lost 120 pounds now!. It sounds to me like your doing the right things!. You haven't mentioned including some healthy grains/health fats/dairy as well so that your diet is balanced!.!.!.drinking lots of water to stay hydrated and flush your system!. I get that kind of feed back from my friends too (my eating buddies), but I think it is just their fears!. How can they give you advise like that when the haven't managed to concur their own dietary problems!.!."give your body a break before my body gives out" That is what you are doing now by eating healthy and exercising when possible!. This isn't about dieting, this is about living and eating in a healthy way that is for life!. We can still have little treats like sweets once in a while, but then it is a real treat and appreciated as such!. Weight Watchers was my tool!. You seem to being well on your own, you may want to journal your food for a few days and bring it into your doctor and see what he has to say!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You have to consider the source when taking advice from her!. She may be jealous that you already lost 20lbs!. Yes, you can over-diet, but that's not what it sounds like you are doing!. 2-3 lbs per week is a good goal!. Keep up what you are doing!. I hope you are eating healthy, well balanced meals!. As long as you are doing all the right things, I would say go for it! gl!Www@Answer-Health@Com
