Question:

I really really want to lose weight but i have absolutely no desire to again any new muscle?

I know everyone say a combo of cardio and stength training is the key along with diet but could someone who has had success without strength training give me their take\method. I'm 6'1 230lbs would like to get to 200lbs

Answers:

You're confused. Lifting weights and adding cardio will not turn you into Arnold or Ronnie Coleman (unless you are consuming 5000 calories of clean food a day, have good genetics, are not doing cardio, and are on steroids). And, no, doing low weights with high reps will not get you "toned." I see so many overweight people who believe this myth--I don't want to gain muscle so I am toning. It doesn't work like that. At best, you will be on some kind of a diet and lift heavy weights, and throw in some cardio. You will find your BMI and body fat
go down, but you will find a very slight increase in muscle mass. It will not turn you into the Hulk, it will make you look-get ready for it-"toned." Muscle burns calories faster than fat. You will be healthy, look good, and not have to be on some impossible-to-maintain diet. Cheers.
