The simple sugar will provide energy lost during heavy weight lifting!. Your body gets into a catabolic state after heavy lifting!. If you don't replenish the lost energy within 2 hours after your workout, your body will break down muscle to reach an equilibrium or balance!. Muscle is easier to break down for energy source than fat!.
Include a protein shake for post workout also!. Nowadays you can buy post workout formulas that has the right amount of sugars and protein to feed the body!.
