Does boiling and skimming reduce milk fat content?!
Question:
Does boiling and skimming reduce milk fat content?
If I bought full fat milk and boiled it to let the cream form on top, then removed the cream would I be reducing the fat content? Since moving to Peru the quality of low fat milk is terrible and taste even worse. The full fat is alright but I shouldnt have that because I have high cholesterol. So can I boil the milk and remove the cream? Would that help? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Answers:
Of course it does. If you boil the same container of milk and skim it over the period of a week you will notice that the fat content at the top almost disappears towards the end.
