Am i ever going to lose weight?!

Question:

Am i ever going to lose weight?

ok, so i've been going to the gym at least 3 (usually 4 or 5) times a week since i started college, and i'm a month away from my senior year and i still look exactly the same!!! i guess it could be worse, i could have gained 15 pounds like some girls, but i still have that belly and butt chub that is keeping me from wearing a bikini in public.
i run, i walk everywhere around campus, i don't eat any red meat, or drink cokes, i've tried swimming, elliptical, and weight lifting....nothing.
for the last month and a half i changed workouts. i run a mile and a half, walk about another mile, and do about 200 crunches....still nothing.
should i just take out a loan and get my hips and butt sucked out? i'm just about ready to give up.

Additional Details

also, i'm 5 ft 6 inches and weight about 132. (mostly in my hips and butt)...so i'm not fat or anything, but i'm not exactly bikini material.

I hope you're joking about liposuction at your age, height, and weight. Really, kiddo, that's a pretty damned big mistake.

You mentioned nothing about diet. The truth is that without proper diet, people can work out like demons and never see the results they want. Success in body transformation should be viewed as a pyramid: the base is formed by exercise, nutrition, and rest. Neglect any one of those three elements, and you won't create a stable enough base to reach the peak you want.

Forget drinking Coke -- drinking pop, period, is bad. Excess sugars will bite you in the rear. There is *nothing* wrong with lean red meats. Some of the most impressive physiques in the world have been built off of diets that included copious amounts of red meat. We're ominvores by nature.

Lastly: consistency. You've *tried* swimming, elliptical, and weight-lifting? How long did you try them? Were you using a focused program tailored to your desires? Did you maintain variety? In the case of weight-lifting, were you working the large muscle groups with compound movements (presses, squats, etc), or were you using machines to do bicep curls and leg extensions?

These are all good questions to ask yourself.

For some good answers regarding body transformation for women (if they're seeking a fit, strong look), I generally point people to http://www.musclewithattitude.com/... -- Waterbury's "4 Things Females Should Know" article is a good start. Read through as much as you can.

Yes, the site is targeted toward those who wish to pursue figure/fitness competition goals, so there's an extreme mentality to the effort they speak of. If that's not your cup of tea and you're worried about becoming overly buff -- don't. Unless you're a genetic freak, you're NOT going to accidentally earn that look. If you were that kind of genetic anomaly, you'd know it already. It takes years of dedication and intense effort to reach the pinnacle that some of those images represent. If you want something short of that, it's no problem at all to simply ease back when you're at your ideal image.

Good luck with your goals. Don't be too obsessed with what the scale says -- the scale lies. Take care of your overall health and fitness, and the rest will fall into place.
