What are your thoughts on...?!

Question:

What are your thoughts on...?

so i generally don't have very many body image issues, but i was recently ill and gained about 25-30 pounds, and i was already slightly gaining... i'm used to being about 130 pounds and i was up to 177 1/2. i've lost over ten in the past month.. still working on eating healthy and exercising...

BUT...

I've been seeing a lot of people i haven't seen for a while and i feel like a big giant blimp.. its like.. i know they notice.. a few have commented... and even though i know i'm losing weight and making progress.. i feel all down on myself when in these situations...

any thoughts? i'm not really sure what i'm asking for... just some input i guess

Answers:

Hi: First of all congratulations. You are doing something that most people won't do i.e. take care of your body. Don't believe me. Go to you local mall and look around. You are on the right track to getting down to your previous weight of 130 lbs. Remember, it is not going to happen overnight. You have to remember that you were ill and that even if you wanted you could not live your life the way you want to.

About your friends. Do not worry about how they feel or what they may say. They do not live in your body. They have not overcame a recent illness.
Since you haven't seen them in a while of course they are going to notice any changes in you. The main thing is that you noticed the changes in yourself and are doing something about it. There are alot of people who know they need to take care of themselves but won't. You can use your friends comments as motivation to look as good as you can.

As time goes on you will start to feel much better about yourself and how others see you. Do you feel better about yourself then you did when you were 178lbs? How will you feel about yourself when you are 130lbs? Just keep doing what you are doing. You want to make eating healthy and exercise a part of your life, just like brushing your teeth. And sooner or later your friends will be thinking how good you look and how fat that they feel. Take care.
