Basically, when you're body recognizes it is in for the long haul weight loss effectively shuts down. It is still healthy to get this excercise, but your body goes into conservation mode after a while. You need to do shorter and more intense cardio to spur weight loss. Run two miles as fast you can. Swim. Ride a bike with heavy resistance and fast pace. These marathon type workouts you're doing won't do the trick. Also, weight training and the proper diet to go with the new cardio workouts.

It takes time to shed a pound. How fast (or slow?) were you going?

ok to loose one pound u need to burn 3600 calories..
so u have to eat less calories then u burn in order to lose the weight

also burn more calories then you consume

You can run on a treadmill all you want, but if you are not burning more calories than you consume, you wont loose a thing.
You might want to take a closer look at your diet and try to find ways of lowering your caloric intake in a healthy way.
Also, a treadmill is great, but you might want to do other types of exercise as well.

4 hours?? Wow. I would try switching up your routine a bit. Do it in the morning and early evening to rev up your metabolism, and to keep it running strong! One of the best ways for doing this on a treadmill- would be to raise your heart rate, and lower your heart rate. Keeping it at a constant pace is no good. (at least for what you are trying to accomplish). To do this, try sprinting for a minute, then a slow jog for two minutes, sprinting one minute, slow jog for three minutes, run fast for 3 minutes, walk for 30 seconds, and so on for 20-30 minutes. All you need.
Also- please diet!! You need a diet for life! One that includes complex carbs like broccoli and sweet potato's, whole grains like barley and brown rice, and lots of dark green leafy veggies. A great way to loose pounds quick, are eating lots of small meals, and making a couple of them soup! Hot meals rev up your metabolism! :) so try some chunky tomato, or lentil (keeps you full and has ton of fiber!) Good Luck!!

How much do you weigh now? If you are already underweight then you will have quite a bit of difficulty taking more off.
