How to eat healthy?!
Question: I really don't know how to eat healthy. I guess after a lifetime of eating badly. My mom is one of the best moms in the world and if not the best, but being a single mom my siblings and I ate fast food at least 7 times a week. I am about 30 pounds over weight, 5'8 195, I've lost weight before, but I didnt diet last time. I just worked out really hard. I have a little one now and I dont have as much time to work out. I really dont know where to begin with tasty or healthy meal ideas beyond a salad. Please help

Your off to a good start! Stay as healthy and happy as you can... but make sure you balance all your meals! I recommend eating some type of wheat bread of some sort in the morning and a small portion of fruit-- you what to build up protein for the rest of your day you want to eat enough so you dont get tired by 12:30 (pm). For a mid-morning snack i would say an apple or pretzels and WATER! -- i live on it! Also, for a lunch I suggest a sandwich with meat and a side off vegatables like carrots or greenbeans. For a mid-afternoon snack i would say pretzels or some sort of organic chips to hold you over for dinner. And for dinner, i recommend poultry or fish as a main course with a side of vegetables and a something like a salad. Keep working out though thats a great habit to start and again, be sure to balance yourself out between portions or food and exercising . Good luck and i hope you stick with it! :)
Eat whole grain carbs ,fruit ,vegatables, chicken breast ,fish .Avoid saturated fat (animal fat),trans fat (like in cookies and pastry).Avoid white flower and sugar.Have a treat once in a while.
What to eat: Eat fruit...whole grain/wheat...skim milk...100%natural juice or sugar stuff...low fat or fat free...organic(if you have a lot of dough)...lean meat...small portions of nuts...instant grits(they don't have anything in them)...most of this stuff worked for me.
What to do: Simple pushups...crunches...lunges...buy a 30min aerobics vid...stretch...it all counts!
Have the kid join in (if she/he can)...make it fun...watch nutrition facts. I'm a guy and i did most of this stuff, but my mom used a similiar diet and excersise several years ago and it worked. Hope this helps.
Order a salad instead of hamburgers and get a veggie pizza.
