Why cant i do it right?! im so upset with myself.?!


Question: I tell myself ill do better tomorrow. tomorrow comes, i dont eat much all day. breakfast is a cup of coffee, lunch is an orange.
and everyday i do good for the first part of the day like that.

but dinner comes and i cant help myself, i eat a bunch.
like just now, i had a bowl of beans and about 4 servings of tatertots for dinner.

im so mad rate now though, why cant i do this right?!
now tomorrow im gonna have gained a bunch of weight, i just...get so frustrated sometimes.

my questions are:
1) why do i eat alot at night?

2)am i alone? or do others out there do this too?

3)im 17 yr old, 5'10" and 130-ish lbs. [give or take 3lbs] do you consider that chubby?

4)any tips on how to NOT do that at night?

Hello SpiderBear, it's been a while since I've been on Y!?s, but I came on just for your question. Feel special.

1) You eat a lot at night because all day long you have been depriving your body of food all day. First off, you are slowing down your metabolism because your body doesn't think it's getting any food. You need to eat many smaller meals to boost your metabolism, and you need to exercise. (You didn't mention that).

2) You are not alone. Millions of people do this. Personally, I am an emotional eater. I eat when I am sad, lonely, angry, bored, frustrated, etc.

3) If anything, you are underweight. You should check into a BMI and test your body fat percent. For a male, I believe 8-13% is standardly accepted as healthy. I am 5'6" and 145 pounds (give or take) and most people consider me slim and yell at me when I talk about losing weight. You might consider trying to build muscle by lifting weights... that's a healthy weight gain. If you consider yourself chubby, you probably have an unhealthy body image, cause by the mass media which idolizes bodies that for the general public are unattainable. I look in the mirror and I feel huge, and everyone tells me I'm thin. Body image issues are especially common in women and gay men, although heterosexual men may also experience issues (although their issue is usually the reverse--not enough muscle).

4. To avoid the "binge" eating at night... spread the eating out throughout the day to increase your metabolism and reduce your appetite. Also, exercise can help you lose weight and reduce your appetite.

P.S. I used to be vegetarian and I gained weight. I ate too much cheese. LOL. 120 may be possible for you depending on your bone structure, but I would say you should be happy with 125. My goal is 135-140 and I'm a good 4 inches shorter than you.

ok u are REALLY skinny

First of all thaat is a perfect weight for your hieght i am 5"9 I should know my dietian says that kind of height you should be that weight

first of all, you do know the answer to this question, come on,m you have to know. seriously, starving your body by barely eating is VERYYYYY bad for your health, and you will gain weight because when you starve yourself, your body gets used to not burning calories, and once you eat anything, your body wont burn calories because it is used to it, so there you go ...those extra calories.

you want to eat at night because you haven't eaten all day.

P.S did you know your body produces calorie burning hormones each time you eat?

also , there are no ways to make your body not want food.


OK....LISTEN TO THIS.........a person that is 5'7 should weigh 150 to be healthy and skinny, YOUR 5'10 and weigh 130, you should weigh 1around 160-170

and the reason you eat so much at night is because you dont eat enough during the day. you need to have a good breakfast. since your a vegitarian you need to eat alot of protein, which you aren't. you need to start eating seeds and nuts. for breakfast you should have yougurt, a peice of fruit, and a protein bar or shake. you should eat a snack between then and lunch (i.e the nuts, grapes, carrots and dips etc.) you should be having more for lunch. a sandwhich and veggies or something healthy like that. then you should have a snack between lunch and dinner. For your dinner you need things more like beans and salmon(if you eat that) and soups. I know your thinking how is eating more going to make me loose weight? but your already really skinny. and eating these healthy things will make you feel better and look better. also go for a walk during the day (about 30 mins) and you will stay healthy. drink lots of water too! but don't diet or anything. your 5'10 and 130! im 5'2 and weigh 115. just think about it this way. you would rather have a little more meat on your bones incase you get sick..cause if you dont have enough fat to help you through then you can get really sick!

First off, you're not alone -- many of us have wrestled with the same problem. If you look at nutritional research, countless studies have shown that the less people eat early in the day, the more hungry they are at night and the harder time they have controlling their appetites. Studies show that eating more -- actually eating breakfast and lunch -- reduces end of the day hunger. On top of that, eating earlier in the day raises metabolism, so you'll actually be burning off a portion of that intake. Give it a try -- I think you'll find it much easier....

That's actually really skinny for a guy...
I'm 5'6" and weigh about the same... I would love to lose at least 10 lbs... =[....
Don't worry... I do the exact same thing...
But I'm starting to eat in a more healthy way though...
I eat like.. 5 times a day (little things)....
I also drink ALOT of water (having to pee every 5 seconds is killing me though).... =P...
But eating like you are is killing your metabolism!!
