Please help me help my daughter?!

Question: I am very worried about my daughter. She is 11 years old and over the past year she has taken to binge eating and sneaking food and not just once in a while it has be come an everyday thing. She at half a pan of Lasagna the other night while she was sposed to be putting it away for leftovers. She has really become obsessed with food and wants to eat ALL the time.
It is really scaring me and I really don't know what to do. REAL ADVISE ONLY PLEASE.

Did something happen a year ago that has upset her or scared her? If this has started to occur in the last year - I would try to look at any changes like:- friends; schools; family issues; any deaths etc. People binge eat for various reasons - ALL of which carry a problem that needs to be addressed immediately. Binge eaters can be bullimic or be emotional eaters for example (not saying your daughter is either one). I would try to look at the emotional side as sneaking and hiding food could indicate an emotional upheaval or problem - sometimes called "comfort food". Talk to her if she is approachable and ask her if she has had any worries or concerns that maybe she hasn't told you about - sometimes it can be a simple trigger. DO get proffessional help and advice as soon as you can as your daughter is at a very impressionable age and this sort of habit needs to be stoppped before she gets older. you can start with your normal doctor and from there - obtain referrals to get her the help she needs whether it is medical or some counselling. If it's not stopped - you could find that serious eating disorders may imerge in the future. Good luck......

i'd consult a doctor.

is your daughter overweight. too skinny. she might be eating alot and throwing up somewhere else. u should monitor her closely. if she is overweight try this.
The best way to loose weight is to do naturally. The body will accept it better. Take half the intake, eat half what u normally eat. 3 light meals a day. No sugar stuff. Soft drinks are no good. Plain water is the best. No sweet drinks and no snack. Do not eat between meals. Have regular time meals. Do not eat before bed. No supper. Breakfast is a must. Take a light lunch. A lighter dinner. Less red meat, if possible take fish. The best way to eat fish is to steam it. More vegetables and take 2 kinds of fruits per day. If u decide to stop meat a better replacement would to take beancurd. You can caculate your body mass index (BMI) with a formula.

BMI = weight (in kilograms) divide by
(Height (m) x Height (m))

remember I kilograms = 2.2046 pounds
1 meters (m) = 0.305 feet
chart for Risk of Heart Disease and Diabetes

27.5 and above High Risk
23.0
