Was this a good enough workout for after my big Easter binge?!

Question: I ate like maybe 4000 calories, I know I know, bad but it was a holiday and I was so hungry and the food was there and I was having a good time. I ran for 30 minutes at a nice pace and then walked 30 minutes. Was that a good enough workout? What should I eat today, if anything. I was planning of skipping all but dinner. Thank you for helping me.

It really isnt good to skip meals (I'm sure you've heard it a zillion times)

I say eat normal today.
What happened yesterday is over with.
Running and then walking probably burned off a good amount of calories..

Your right. Yesterday was a holiday, and you enjoyed yourself. Theres no sense in worrying about it today...just bounce back to a normal/healthy diet and you'll be all set.

Yesterday after our easter dinner my whole family went for a long 2 mile walk. It was great, it helped us feel digested... and burned a few calories.

Maybe today you can go for another walk or run if your up to it.

No do not skip meals, eat 5-6 meals a day. If you skip meals your body will go into starvation mode and store fat.

Exercise:

Resistance training and Cardio, not one or the other.

i think there's something along the lines of 3,000 calories in a pound. so if you look at it in the grand scheme of things, you probably only gained a pound at the most. eat today, but eat light. drink a lot of water, maybe go running again today for 30 minutes. you should be fine.

No, that was not near enough exercise to work off 4000 calories! Also, don't skip meals. Eat small portions of healthy foods, like fruits, vegetables and whole grains, to balance out yesterday's binge. You need a healthy balance of different types of food, not just the right over all amount of food, and skipping meals slows down your metabolism, making it harder to work off those calories. And don't forget to drink lots of water! Water helps your body flush excess nutrients and chemicals.

the running sounds good. but you shouldn't skip any meals really just eat low calorie food like maybe a bannana for breakfast a salad and yughurt for lunch and a normal meal that you would eat for dinner. this way your calorie intake will slow down gradually and you body can get used to eating less agian. skipping meals only results in the next meal being stored as more fat. so little and often for food.

make sure you eat all 3 meals, but not as much, and eat healthier. you probably didnt burn off all the calories from you walk/run, but it is enough so that if you were to do that a few days in a row you wont gain anything, you just wont lose as fast...

I can completely understand the feeling of, "I ate so much yesterday, it seems only right that I not eat today." That is not going work. Your metabolism will slow, your body will got into "starvation mode," and when you do eat, it will retain all the calories that you consume and you will only feel hungrier and want to eat more. Today, you need to eat as you normally would.

You should probably have done a bit more cardio. But I completely know the feeling after eating so much. Today, do more cardio.

Eating 4000 calories for a festival meals is not bad. you should exercise only 3 hours after the meals. With this heavy meals, you will not feel hungry soon. So eat next meal only when you really feel hungry naturally.
