OK, this is what I do, it works for me, and I weigh 119 lbs. I work out 6 days a week, for 50 minutes. That is a promise I make to myself, so your jazz dance class should be perfect. I don't kill myself, I work out at a pace that isn't painful, I don't dread every minute (I run on the treadmill while watching movies or something I enjoy).

I've tried every diet on the planet. What works is eating healthy and allowing myself daily cheats. Ex. I have an egg white omelette breakfast burrito, with beans and any veggies that I want, or oatmeal with tons of fruit and splenda. Then I'm full! Protein keeps you full, veggies give you energy (so do whole grains). Then I usually have some pasta with chicken, and honestly, I pick a recipe from an Italian cookbook, one that isn't too fatty, but I love Italian foods, so I feel like I'm cheating, when I'm not. I use ground turkey instead of ground beef. I eat chocolate every day, but only 4 squares of a Cadbury bar. It satisfies a craving and I feel like I'm cheating. I stick with 1800 calories a day, so knowing that, I try to eat chicken and fish as my meats. I snack with one piece of string cheese and three crackers, fruits and veggies.

If you try the special K diet, you will be famished within 2 hrs., and you will "cheat," so don't bother.

Forget about counting carbs. Carbs give you energy to exercise, so that you feel like you can get through a workout, and you can feel like you like to exercise. Protein keeps you feeling full longer.

Anyway, good luck!

maybe do exercise some of the days that you don't have dance class. carbs are okay. how about.. just don't eat a whole bunch of junk food :) and you should be fine

Don't do any kind of huge "diet" just eat lots of fruits and veg. and stay away from junk food like chips, candy, fried foods, fast food and stuff every once and a while is ok but not more then once a week!! Also try to drink more water and less pop!! I think jazz dance is enough but if you want to go for a short run you can do that 2 but why not go for a run on the days you don't have jazz dance class??

unless you are drastically obese, do not do any type of diet at that age, just get out and run more than you have, like 5-6 miles per session twice per day. the weight and girth will melt off in about 2 weeks. dont forget to warm up before hand and take a hot shower after to sooth achy muscles and relax. one thing that you`ll see while doing training, is that there is no such thing as a fat competitive runner, not if you are serious about it.

well you only have to lose a little, so you've got it pretty easy.
you don't necessarily have to diet, just stay away from sweets, starches, and bad carbs.
burn more calories than you take in.
i would definetly run, but that's just because i feel i lose the most weight when i run.
but you should do crunches and maybe planks to, to target your abs more.
i like the end of your question btw!
hope this helps!!
don't worry, you can do this!!!!
good luck!!!

1st - Forget the 'diet' - they don't work. As soon as you stop the 'diet', you gain back the lost weight + more. This is because your body thought it was being starved whilst you were deiting. So when you resume back to normal eating patterns, your body thinks 'I better store this food, incase we go into starvation mode again'. Stored = Fat - Get it.

2nd - Just eat healthy foods, fresh fuit & veg, wholgrain rice, bread & pasta, Chicken and Fish.
Always have breakfast, lunch and diner. If you can go without in between, do so.

3rd - Exercise is key !!!!!!!!! and is full of 'the feel good factor' the same as you get from chocolate. If your calorie intake a day were for example 1800 then you need to exercise & burn off more than 1800 calories each day.

You need to find out what your calorie intake should be, this is calculated by age, height, weight etc and is called BMI (Body Mass Index).
Any good fitness/gym instructor will do this for you, but your GP would be better.

4th - At just 14 you need to make sure that you do things correctly, as your bones & muscle are still
at development stage. Therefore, exercise could be as dangerouse as dieting.

Do your home work first - when you have had the proffesstional advice, start off slowly and gradulally increase your exercise input over a period of time, steady weight loss is far better than loosing it quickly.

Remember DIETS DON'T WORK - HEALTHY LIFESTYLE DOES.

Best wishes & good luck XxX
