Calorie Intake-am I harming myself??!


Question: I am 13, 5'5", and weigh 85 pounds. I HATE eating a lot because it makes me feel fat, so I usually eat like 800-1000 a day and burn off 500 by running. How many calories should I eat a day in order to stay thin, and how many should I burn?

You are way too thin and are probably killing yourself.

1,800 calories a day with exercise is the amount an average girl/woman should intake a day.

At 13, and 85pounds, u really shouldn't be worrying about that stuff. Just do what u do, eat what you eat and don't worry about calorie counting, and it'll all just fall into place.

You know your body burns off about 1500 calories a day by just sitting on your *** right? You are most likely loosing weight now. To maintain weight and not loose any, you will have to eat more than 1500 or quit running.

300 calories? isnt that how much people were fed in the holocaust...you need to eat

if you eat all healthy food you will not get fat and therefore theres no reason to stop yourself from pigging out..as long as its healthy

you should eat 1800-2000 calories a day. NO less. if you stop eating your metabolism slows down. if you eat what you are supposed to then you can continue to run and you will not gain any weight. you shouldn't be worried because you are already to thin.

,Try and eat little and often, ignore the calorie guide line listen to your body. Try and be content with yourself, varied foods and exercise, we are individuals so generalisation is only rule of thumb. Explore foods and understanding. Love what you eat and respect yourself.

That's more unhealthy than if you were actually obese!
A person of 13 and of 5'5'' should be taking in at least 1800 calories a day and of course you're free to exercise as that is your own choice, especially if you enjoy exercise.
If you want to maintain you're weight, eat 1800 calories a day and exercise as much as you want, not obsessively though.
I am saying this to help you, no more, Please, Do not starve yourself, there is no way at your age that you could feel satisfied with 800 calories daily, If you were a dieter and actually needed to lose the weight..then that would be somehwhat understandable. But you are slowly leading youself into a very very unhealthy future if you carry on like this. You need your nutrients even more at your age. There is an endless list of the amount of damage you could be doing to your body, and alothough you may be thankful now that you are skinny and so on, You will regret it at an older age as your teenage years are when you do alot of your growing. Im not here to lecture you, but everyone wants to be healthy and enjoy life..so enjoy it, treat yourself and dont ever feel the need to go hungry because of those stick thin models that are all around us in the media and so on..Enjoy being you, be healthy, and love who you are.
